| character name | Seles Wilder

| gem | Day
| reason | Because Seles has learned from her brother that people can change and the world can become a better place.
| wings | Seles's wings are amber in color with a faint glitter about them. She has three pairs giving her a total of six wings.
| personality | Seles is a kind and caring girl. In the Successors of Hope novel she gets into trouble defending an old woman being mistreated by the local clergy despite having never met her prior. In Dawn of the New World she gives a rare and unparalleled gem she had acquired to Emil so he can save the world. When it comes to others Seles only has the best of intentions and you won't find her being stingy with her position or what she owns.
But.
Seles has had a rough life. For ten years she was under house arrest, exiled to a secluded Abbey and with constant guard to keep her there. Her father was dead, her mother executed for treason-- all she had left was her half-brother, Zelos. Before her arrest they'd been very close, but afterwards he turned a cold shoulder to her. Her way of dealing with this was to project a cold shoulder back. As such she can come off rather tsundere to others, quicker to chastise than speak words of kindness. Even when she wants to speak her true feelings she's more likely to keep them to herself, worried they'll be unwanted, or whisper them when she thinks no one can hear.
When not dealing with the affairs of her heart Seles can be quite bold. She has a habit of speaking her mind when she has a strong opinion to say; politely, of course, because she is a lady of noble birth, but there's no doubt she can have a sharp tongue when she wants to. She has no problem telling her brother's friends and a complete stranger that she once found the world dark and repulsive in A Long Time Ago or telling off those same friends when they try to interfere in her relationship with her brother. Her determination doesn't lack either, schooling herself to be a lady of renowned impeccable breeding despite her forced seclusion. Taking it even a step further she becomes proficient in the martial arts, learning to use magic, sword, shield, mace and purse (sometimes a lady needs to take matters into her own hands delicately...with her purse and a certain amount of force). This an illness she was born with that leaves her generally weak and short of breath if she over extends herself (it's not named in canon, but symptoms are similar to asthma).
All this said Seles is still young and has been sheltered from the world for most of her life. She may have skills and knowledge, but she doesn't have much experience. Her view of the world can be sorted into "right" and "wrong" rather than the complicated shades of grey that make up most people's lives. She also has a tendency to become afraid or a damsel in distress in battle despite her proficiency. When it comes down to it she's been alone, kept locked away, but never had to stand on her own two feet. Her butler has always taken care of her, sorting out her needs and helping her achieve her wishes. Her initial reconciliation with her brother only happens through her butler sneaking her out of the abbey and concocting a plan to force him to face her in the coliseum. She takes credit for the plot o protect him from reprisal, but in reality it can't be said she has ever been the brains of any operation.
Important Relations
Zelos Wilder- This is Seles's half-brother. As children they were close though politics eventually forced them apart. They are both still incredibly devoted eachother with both displaying a willingness to die for the other (Zelos by attempting to get his Chosen title transferred to Seles for her well-being either through his death or politics and Seles when kidnapped to be used as bait for Zelos telling him to run and leave her to die before he can be assassinated). Seles's devotion is intense. Incredibly intense. In the once broke out of her house arrest to track down a woman her brother professed to liking to attack her and call her a witch. Seles won't have anyone taking her brother away from her if she can help it. Unfortunately she has no idea how to deal with any prospects than violence.
| background | Aselia wiki covers the first game.
Afterwards Seles continues to live in the abbey in the recombined world not having been freed from her treason charges yet. Zelos eventually visits her, giving her a jewelry box to watch over for him. He also asks if he can take her home to his manor next time he comes, something to which she agrees. Unfortunately she soon after hears of his death. Distraught she manages to carry on remembering the changed man he had become who wanted to work to create a better world where everyone could live. Because he saw the world as beautiful she too wants to strive to see it that way and keep living for him. Zelos's friends visit her requesting the box and she relinquishes it to them believing it's what Zelos would have wanted. Eventually it comes out Zelos faked his death to put a stop to a government coup. He comes soon after and fulfills his promise in taking Seles home.
They have some time to become reacquainted with one another, but it's much too little as Zelos is soon on the move again. With a cult after his head he can't stay in one place for long or other people get hurt in the crossfire. He leaves for the safety of others and Seles remains at home. The cult comes for her though, kidnapping her to draw Zelos to a place where they can overwhelm and kill him. Despite her cries for him to save himself, Zelos fights to free Seles and nearly dies in the process. Eventually one of his friends arrives to save them both and together they return again.
Once more their time is short lived as problems larger than both of them call Zelos away. The weather and monsters of the world are going haywire with no discernible cause. Add to that Zelos's best friend suddenly going missing and he's on the road again leaving Seles once more at home with only the servants. To cheer her up her butler procures a gem of magnificent beauty to present to her. Unbeknownst to them it holds incredible power and is being sought by a malevolent group with the intent of using its power to wipe away half the planet. The group comes for the gem and kidnaps Seles in the process. Zelos and his friends show up to rescue her and she gives them the gem, wanting to do her part to help even if she knows her body is too frail to fight alongside them. Zelos and his friends save the world, the weather and monsters return to normal and Zelos comes home once more.

| abilities | Seles is well-versed in the rates of the noble woman. Dancing, etiquette, music, poetry and so forth are all skills of hers. Where she really shines though are the martial arts. She actually has quite a bit of strength to her. Her typical weapons are a claymore larger than herself, a meteor tipped made also larger than herself, a large shield for defense, a large wand. She keeps these all in a normal sized, fashionable purse blessed with hammer space. The purse also doubles as a weapon when she feels like it.
Beyond that she also has ice magic, able to create waves and shards of ice and send them flying at her opponents.
| inventory | The clothes on her back!

| amber entry | [Seles is not familiar with an item like this. As such there's only a picture of her mouth as she's clutching the amber slice much to close in her nervousness. Any closer and she'll practically be eating it...]
Hello! To all of you out there. My name is Seles of the House of Wilder. [That seemed good. Proper. Yes... Now what?] Ah... Uhm... Ahem. And I am looking for my brother! The Chosen. If you've seen him inform him to come see me at once.
[A spark of haughtiness touches her voice. She's someone of importance after all, she should act like it. No need to be rude though; after a moment she adds with slightly less surety:]
Please. In the meantime if someone could show me a place to rest it'd be much appreciated. That is all.
[Was that right? She hopes so. She wants to be proper about this, first impressions are very important.]
| prose sample | It'd happened so quickly Seles almost didn't believe she wasn't in a dream at first. The tree is massive, old, grand; much like something she'd imagine in Ymir, the forest of the elves. In front of her is a large stone, the runes on it glowing faintly. Should she touch it? Leave it alone? Her head drops back to stare up and up and up...all the way up to a hole in the ceiling. Her breath quickens just the slightest. This feels like an adventure. Just like her brother's with his friends. But she's never been allowed on one before.
Bringing her gaze back down she spots the backpack. Curiously made from leaves surprisingly large, she steps forward to take it. Did someone leave it here? Or is it...perhaps...hers? Inside is a beautiful slice of amber, her reflection shining in its depth, a tunic of soft lamb's ear leaves and a..stone. Well.
"I'll just find the owner and return this. Unless it's mine. In which case I'm grateful, but people don't go around dressed in leaves. I won't." Yes. It's a plan. Stepping past the rune stone she explores the room, trying to keep her fear and excitement in check. A few steps. Stop. A few more. No, back the other way now. It's surreal being on her own like this. Like a story in a book. If her butler Tokunaga were here he'd tell her to stay put while he solved this puzzle. And if her brother were... She'd feel safe, at least.
But it's just her. "This can't be that hard. Even that woman does things like this on her own all the time." And Seles won't have it be said she lost out to the one who's captured her brother's affections. She continues her circuit of the room before coming across the gems. If she had more experience in adventures she might have been wary of the sudden compulsion that takes her. But as it is she doesn't and so there's no hesitation as she immediately reaches out to touch the one that somehow strikes her of daylight, of the beauty Zelos sees in the world, of a place where everyone can live.
"Pretty... Ah!" Fumbling she tries to catch the fragment that broke off. It won't be caught and she drops it. "It's just a rock! It's not a big deal!" So what if she broke it? It's just a small piece and--
The feeling of something shifting in the back of her dress makes her shriek and she reaches behind her trying to grab it. Squirming there's nothing for it but to struggle with the buttons down the back of her clothes, fingers fumbling as her breath speeds up and she can't breath, is something going to eat her?! Fear pushes her to simply rip the buttons and several something's push through, suddenly free. Reaching behind her to grab them she feels something like...spider's silk?
Clutching her chest she sinks to her knees. Maybe she'll just rest. For a bit. Until her chest doesn't feel so tight. But she can feel them now, the wings, fingers tracing them curiously. "What's happening to me... Zelos..."
He'll come for her, surely? She's not certain she wants to adventure alone.
